Stevenson singers prepare for trip back in time
Members of the Stevenson High School choral program had one final trial run Tuesday before taking themselves and their guests back in time Sunday, when they host their annual Madrigal dinner.
Set for 6:30 p.m. at the Arboretum Club in Buffalo Grove, the event is a highlight of the choral season.
Madrigal Singers will perform an original script written by students Mary Baldino, Nick Filerman, Donna Ilyukh and Caroline Powers. The evening also will feature a cappella singing, dancing and music from the Renaissance to modern times.
The show is directed by Ellen Singer.
"There's actually a lot of Renaissance Madrigals written about spring and love," Singer said. "We just take advantage of that and do a show in the spring."
The 16 student performers include Rebecca Arvold, Mary Baldino, Mahitha Chaturvedula, Megan Eisenstein, Dana Feldstein, Nicolas Filerman, Abby Froyshteter, Donna Ilyukh, Alexa Koperski, Amelia Landau, Saumya Malhotra, Rebecca Muise, Caroline Powers, Isabella Rondon, Marissa Schwartz and Shawn Zhu.
Tickets cost $32 and can be purchased by emailing Ellen Singer at esinger@d125.org.
