Folk artist Meghan Cary to celebrate International Women's Day with March 8 concert at Two Way Street

Nationally renowned for her powerful performances and passion for empowering women, folk rock super star Meghan Cary is inviting fans to "Sing Louder" with her as she celebrates International Women's Day on Friday, March 8 at Two Way Street, 1047 Curtiss St. in Downers Grove.

During this special show, Cary will not only perform the hits from her latest album "Sing Louder" with her musical partner Peter Farrell but also give the audience an intimate look at the inspiration behind the record that was heralded as one that "inspires us to reach our higher selves." (John Platt, WFUV FM).

"So much good can come from sharing our stories, said Cary. "When we hear and relate to someone else's story, we're inspired to share our own and maybe even write a different ending. I choose to share my story through song because music is the most powerful tool I know for breaking through barriers of difference and fear, and authentically connecting with others. On international Women's Day we celebrate women around the world, young and old, and we encourage all women to raise their voices and be heard. Let's all sing louder!"

"Sing Louder," which debuted among the top 10 on the U.S./International Folk DJ Radio Charts, is being played at mainstream radio in more than 40 markets throughout the country and in Canada. One of those stations is Chicago's own WFMT 98.7 where Cary has been invited to perform on the legendary "FolkStage" hosted by Rich Warren Saturday, March 9. Featuring some of the best traditional and singer-songwriter talent in folk music, "FolkStage" is a one-hour concert performed for a select studio audience and broadcast live on WFMT Saturday night at 8 p.m. Fans can listen at 98.7 in Chicago, or live around the world at www.wfmt.com.

Cary also will be supporting International Women's Day by unveiling her debut book "Sing Louder: The Stories Behind the Songs." The companion to her critically-acclaimed album "Sing Louder," this mesmerizing collection of essays provides fans with a deeply introspective look into the inspiration behind her most profound album to date. The Two Way Street show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door.
