Road reopens in Spring Grove after freight train derailment

A freight train derailment is no longer blocking a roadway in Spring Grove, authorities said Wednesday.

Spring Grove Police Chief Thomas Sanders said Blivin Street is open again after railroad officials removed 13 empty freight cars and repaired railroad tracks that were damaged after the train derailed about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday. No injuries were reported in the derailment. The freight cars that derailed were empty after unloading in Chicago, Sander said.

Blivin Street was closed for most of Tuesday while the freight cars were removed. The only damage reported was to a fence of an old lumber yard that was knocked over, Sander said.
