New Parent Mentors Come to District 6

On Friday, February 22, 2019, HACES inducted 12 new parent mentors into their program. Each parent mentor spent their first week in training sessions to prepare them for their time in the classroom. Throughout the week, each parent mentor will spend eight hours in the classroom and two hours being trained on different ways to work with children, empower the students in their classwork, and support the classroom teacher. The program works with parents and Zion community members to strengthen the skills they need to support their children throughout the school year. With the help of these parent mentors, a stronger home-school connection is formed and students see more immediate and long term success. Zion Elementary School District 6 is beyond grateful for HACES's involvement in their schools and is proud to see the difference that it has made in their students' learning.
