Ralph Wilder To Appear At Northwest Concert Band Spring Concert

The Northwest Concert Band will present its Spring Concert, "It Might As Well Be Spring", on Sunday, March 10, at 3 pm at St. Colette Catholic Church, Rolling Meadows.

The program will feature an exciting afternoon of magnificent music from American 20th century composers including Armenian Dances by Alfred Reed, considered one of the greatest pieces ever composed for the concert band. Other selections include great movie themes from Titanic by James Horner and Star Wars by John Williams, The Syncopated Clock by Leroy Anderson, and a surprise or two!

Ralph Wilder, founding director of the Northwest Concert Band, is expected to conduct a selection. Wilder was injured in May 2018 when a piece of stage equipment fell on him, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down. The Northwest Concert Band has carried on in his absence under the direction of Randy Steinberg.

The Northwest Concert Band was founded in 2015 by director Ralph Wilder and a group of passionate musicians. One of the premier community concert bands in Chicago's northwest suburbs, the 60+ member band has delighted audiences year-round. The band welcomes musicians of all ages who play a band instrument. There is no audition, but members are asked to attend weekly rehearsals to learn and perform high quality and challenging music. The band rehearses on Monday evenings at St. Colette.

St. Colette Catholic Church is located at 3900 Meadow Drive, Rolling Meadows. A free will offering will be accepted.
