IDNR seeks bluebird monitors at Volo Bog, Moraine Hills

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is seeking volunteers to monitor bluebirds at Volo Bog State Natural Area in Ingleside and Moraine Hills State Park and McHenry Dam in McHenry.

Monitors check the progress of nesting birds in bird houses from mid-March through mid-August and turn in data at the end of the season. This involves light to moderate walking through a variety of weather conditions.

A minimum five-month commitment is necessary. New monitors will be mentored by existing monitors and be assigned required reading.
