Another study in Mount Prospect? What did first one do?
Steve Zalusky's article in the Daily Herald regarding hiring Sam Schwartz Engineering for $79,400 to analyze making crossing the streets in downtown Mount Prospect safer, brings to mind an expenditure of $38,000 back in 2017 to discuss options for a safe pedestrian crossing at Busse and Central.
On June 10, 2016, Joni Beaudry was killed while trying to cross this intersection. This June will mark three years since this tragedy happened, yet nothing has been done. What did the payment of $38,000 accomplish? Now the village wants to spend almost $80K for another discussion about safety!
Before spending more of our money, please prove it is going to accomplish something. I don't recall any recent deaths crossing downtown intersections that would warrant this sudden concern, but the death of one woman three years ago should!
