How Bears players fared in losing effort at Pro Bowl
Seven of the eight Chicago Bears players who were selected to the Pro Bowl in one form or another actually played in the game, but couldn't prevent the NFC's 26-7 loss to the AFC.
In a game that has descended into one with less intensity and competitiveness than a training camp scrimmage, CB Kyle Fuller provided the biggest play by a Bear with an interception. Fuller tied for the NFL lead during the regular season with seven picks.
The NFC managed just 148 total yards, including a 2-yard run by Bears RB Tarik Cohen on his only carry. Bears QB Mitch Trubisky, who was added to the game as a replacement for Rams QB Jared Goff, completed 5 of 9 passes for 34 yards and was intercepted, finishing with a 24.5 passer rating. Trubisky followed starter Russell Wilson under center for the NFC.
Defensive tackle Akiem Hicks, who was one of five Bears voted to the NFC roster along with teammates Fuller, Cohen, S Eddie Jackson and OLB Khalil Mack, had two "tackles," although ball carriers are rarely brought to the ground in the Pro Bowl. Along with Trubisky, OLT Charles Leno and C Cody Whitehair were added to the NFL roster as replacements. Mack did not participate in the Pro Bowl festivities, along with many other marquee players, citing a knee injury.
It was the first Pro Bowl appearance for all seven of the Bears who played in the game, while Mack was selected for the fourth time.
