Believe Project: $100 to help longtime neighbors

Today's recipient of a $100 bill through the Believe Project is Cathy Jacobsen of Streamwood. Here is an excerpt of her story:

"We have very special friends and neighbors who we've lived a few doors down from for more than 22 years.

"A lot of things have changed in that time. He is now in a wheelchair and requires 24-hour care. Her mother is in her 90s and her health is failing. She lives in Indiana about six hours away.

"The $100 would be used to help pay for a caregiver to stay with the husband so my neighbor could go visit her mom.

"That long of a trip would be too much for him. I believe it would mean so much to everyone."

• The Believe Project is awarding at least $100 daily in January to people with good ideas for how to use the money to do a good deed for someone else.
