Authors signing new book in Addison
Author Beatriz Cantú, who with her sister Maritza Ramírez wrote a children's book called "Pandilla de los Valores," will sign and discuss her work during an appearance this weekend in Addison.
Published by Fig Factor Media, the sisters' book uses a group of friendly animals known as "animalitos" to express the importance of developing core moral values at an early age.
Those values include having respect for others, showing loyalty, displaying kindness and persevering through projects.
Cantú will be at the Addison launch from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, at Lorenas Banquets, 543 W. Lake St.
The event is free, but reservations are recommended. "Pandilla de los Valores" is available for purchase for $13. Book bundles in a five- or a 10-pack also are available.
Cantú is the mother of four children. For a long time, she dreamed of creating "Pandilla de los Valores," which honors her family and her values.
She has dedicated a large part of her life to serving the community, especially young women, through her magazines: Sweet 15 and Expo 15, and through her nonprofit, Latino Youth Empowerment.
Cantú is also an author in the Today's Inspired Latina book series. The series showcases a collection of 105 stories from Hispanic female authors all over the world.
Ramírez is a housewife and mother who always dreamed of activating her mission to help all children live and grow with well-rounded values.
