Mount Prospect village manager expected to receive 4 percent pay hike, bonus

Mount Prospect Village Manager Michael Cassady is in line for a 4 percent pay hike and $15,000 bonus, under a measure expected to win village board approval Tuesday.

The raise, if approved, would bring Cassady's base salary from $214,987 to $223,587. The measure on the village board's consent agenda for Tuesday, meaning no discussion is expected by the board, which hashed out the details in closed session.

In a written statement accompanying the agenda item, Mayor Arlene Juracek said Cassady and his team accomplished several key priorities in the Village Strategic Plan.

"Mike has done an excellent job positioning our downtown to flourish with multiple transit-oriented development projects underway and in the pipeline," Juracek wrote. "We recognize that change of the magnitude occurring in Mount Prospect, even when it conforms to agreed-upon plans, can be uncomfortable for the community. The board and village manager are committed to continuing transparency and public engagement efforts to assure community members that their concerns are being heard and addressed."

Cassady also earned praise for the relocation of the police and fire headquarters from their shared space in the village's downtown.

"Mike crafted a Police and Fire HQ relocation strategy and financing plan that allowed us to finally address our inadequate and deteriorating police headquarters," Juracek wrote. "The adaptive re-use of two quality commercial buildings will enhance emergency responses for police, fire and EMS and save taxpayers more than $14 million compared to new construction alternatives."

In his own statement, Cassady said that is an honor to serve the village.

"As an organization we are positioned to have an incredibly productive 2019, and I look forward to continuing the momentum we have started into the new year," he said.
