The women who gained offices in DuPage County

As women gained electoral victories across the country, ushering in the highest proportion of women ever to serve at once in state legislatures across the nation at 28.6 percent, female political victories in DuPage County mirrored the trend. In the traditionally conservative county of nearly 1 million residents, seven Democratic women won election to the county board, which previously had only one Democrat and four women. Another woman became county clerk. And 11 more women - nine of them Democrats - claimed the majority of 14 state House and Senate seats representing parts of the county.
