$100 to help family with baby's medical bills

Today's recipient of a $100 bill through the Believe Project is Emma Stimpfl of Schaumburg. Here is an excerpt of her story:

"I would like to nominate two married friends to receive the $100. The wife gave birth to their baby boy on Nov. 16. The baby was rushed to Lurie Children's Hospital the next day, and he had open heart surgery on Nov. 20. The couple had their best and worst days of their lives.

"They are staying at Lurie with their son because of some complications, and their stay will be a long one. Their bills are starting to add up, and they still wanted to give their two other children a good Christmas.

"I will match the $100, and want them to know they are not alone during this very difficult time."

• The Believe Project is awarding at least $100 each day in January to people with good ideas for how to use the money to do a good deed for someone else.
