The Believe Project: $100 to help friend dealing with challenges

Today's recipient of a $100 bill through the Believe Project is Laurel Dubowski of Carol Stream. Here is an excerpt of her story:

"I have a friend who could sure use the financial help as well as the support.

"She is a hardworking piano teacher at night. She also works full-time as the music director at her church.

"She has such a love for teaching children and giving the gift of music to all ages. Tragedy struck this past February when her husband of 10 years died. The double tragedy is that she has to raise her 9-year-old son with autism alone in an apartment in Bloomingdale. And she's very alone since all her family lives in New York. Please help her."

• The Believe Project is awarding at least $100 each day in December to people with good ideas for how to use the money to do a good deed for someone else.
