Village-Wide Storm Brush Pickup Completed

The Mount Prospect Public Works Department has some good news regarding clean up from the recent winter storm event that damaged thousands of trees in Mount Prospect. The street-by-street brush pickup from the storm began on Monday 12/3 and was completed on Friday 12/7. Many parkway trees still need repair or removal; those efforts are likely to continue for several months.

Now that the brush has been cleared from the parkways, the crews will not return. Therefore, any remaining brush and logs must be properly bundled and placed out on the parkway for the yard waste collectors. (Please note that Village crews and the Village's tree care contractors will continue to work on public trees, removing broken limbs and destroyed trees, as needed. These crews may temporarily generate brush and log piles as they work but they will clean up these piles soon afterwards).

Residents should dispose of any remaining yard waste from their private property trees according to the Village's solid waste disposal guidelines. See the Village's website, www.mountprospect.org, or call Public Works at 847/870-5640 if you have questions regarding disposal.

The week of December 10 is the last week of yard waste, organics, and brush collection. Please make sure all your material is prepared properly and placed at the curb for collection. The material must be placed at the curb on your regularly scheduled garbage/yard waste collection day to be collected. This is the last opportunity for yard waste, organics collection until April 2019. Yard waste or brush placed at the curb after your scheduled collection day the week of December 10 will not be collected. Please visit the Village website in the spring for the start date of the 2019 organics/yard waste program.

The Village wishes to thank all residents for their patience and cooperation!
