20th annual Swedish Christmas and St. Lucia Festival set for Dec. 8

The Swedish American Children's Choir presents the 20th annual Swedish Christmas and St. Lucia Festival at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8.

The festival will take place at Bethany Lutheran Church, 8 S. Lincoln St. in Batavia.

The festival features music by the choir directed by Marguerite Karl with special guests the Salvation Army Brass Ensemble and Piano Duo Emma Foelske and Beth Lawniczak. Also featured are Margaret Lekander, violinist; Julia Lekander, flute; Jason Lekander, guitar; and Shirley Fox, piano soloist.

This year's St. Lucia Queen of Light is Michelle Shrout of Geneva.

Following the concert, a Swedish Christmas Sweet Table will be served and Jul Tomte-Swedish Santa will visit with the children. Also available for purchase will be baked goods.

The Swedish American Children's Choir is the largest choir of its kind in the Midwest. In their 19th year, they have performed at numerous venues in the tri state area. Proceeds from the concert will benefit the choir tour fund.

Tickets are by reservation only and $15 for adults and $8 for children, age 6 to 12 years old.
