Schaumburg Resident Wins Outstanding NonProfit Leader Award

SCHAUMBURG – The Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research (FAER) announced today that it was presented with three 2018 Solutions Day Awards from .orgCommunity. On Thursday, FAER received the Innovation Award for its “Swimming with Sharks” program and the Celebrating Associations Award for its “Honor Your Mentor” campaign. In addition, Rupa Brosseau, director of FAER, was presented with the Outstanding Nonprofit Leader Award.

Solutions Day, presented by .orgCommunity, seeks to bring together disruptors and innovators who are reinventing the association world by redesigning their operations to seize technological advantage and position themselves for success in an era of disruption.

“It is an honor for FAER to be recognized by .orgCommunity for these three awards,” said James C. Eisenach, M.D., FAER president and CEO. “Over the last two years, FAER has undergone significant changes and we have worked hard to become a forward-thinking and innovative foundation. It's validating and exciting to see that recognized outside of the profession.”

FAER received the Innovation Award for its “Swimming with Sharks” program. Using the entertaining format of “Shark Tank,™” FAER put anesthesiologist inventors in front of real venture capitalists.

The Celebrating Associations Award recognized FAER for delivering on its mission in philanthropic ways through its “Honor Your Mentor” campaign. Through print, digital, and social media, FAER asked doctors to honor the mentor(s) who have made a lasting, positive impact on their careers and lives by donating to FAER and as a result, FAER raised over three times the original goal.

The Outstanding Nonprofit Leader Award recognizes recipients who symbolize the ideal nonprofit leader in their actions and achievements, leadership style, member culture and work environment they build, and the mentees as well as peers they inspire.

“Rupa came on board two years ago as a change-maker,” said Dr. Eisenach. “She was integral in the development of FAER's new strategic plan as well as our mission. Today, the Board operates strategically instead of at an operational level. All programs are now mission-aligned and we have met our fundraising goals each year. FAER operates on a $5 million budget. We have grown in both staff size and the amount of grants and programs we offer including joint grants with other organizations.”
