Rand/IL 83/Kensington Intersection Study Open House

The Village of Mount Prospect invites the public to an Open House on Monday, December 3rd to learn about the Rand/IL 83/Kensington Intersection Study. The Open House will be an opportunity to learn about this important study and to provide input as the Village looks to improve the transportation system in this prominent area. The public is welcome to stop by anytime between 6:00pm and 8:00pm in the Community Room at Village Hall, 50 S. Emerson Street. Village representatives will be on hand to discuss the study, answer questions and listen to feedback.

The three closely spaced intersections involving Rand Road, Illinois Route 83, and Kensington Road form a triangle near many thriving businesses including Randhurst Village. Long delays to get through the intersection and operational limitations are ongoing issues. The Village is committed to developing a plan that will provide significant enhancements for the benefit of motorists, pedestrians, bicyclists, nearby businesses, and residents. The study will not only consider improvements to the intersection and roadways but also improvements to sidewalk & bike paths, driveways to businesses, lighting, and drainage.

The Village is currently at the early stages of collecting data and feedback. The comprehensive study is expected to be completed with a preferred design by the end of 2019. The project web page, https://plan4randroad.com, has additional information on the study including a questionnaire to provide comments. Additional questions can be directed to the Public Works Department at 847/870-5640 or publicworksdept@mountprospect.org.
