Local teachers serve students and families on McTeacher's Night to raise money for school classroom materials

Teachers from School District, U-46, volunteered behind the counter on Thursday, November 1, at the Streamwood McDonald's located on Irving Park Rd., where they served students and their families in a fundraiser for Sunnydale Elementary School.

Current Sunnydale teacher's Edgar Medina and Juan Jacobo, along with retired teacher Jodie Bradney, tended the apple pie box during the night.

Several teachers helped with the selling of pies to customers throughout the night and did an outstanding job. The proceeds from the sale of 120 pies went directly to benefit the students. Twenty percent of the proceeds from the McTeacher's Night sales were donated directly to the school as well. Sunnydale will add the funds raised to their teacher's discretionary fund, which is used for classroom materials needed to support student growth.

Marc Bear, Owner Operator of the Streamwood McDonald's, and the Bear family were delighted to participate in the worthy cause for education and the community.

"McTeacher's Night is part of McDonald's larger commitment to education and other important initiatives supporting families and the local community," Bear said.

"We are proud to serve the families of the Sunnydale community and through the McTeacher's Night event. In addition to helping provide financial support for our local schools, we help students feel connected to their school, their teachers and their sense of community."

Bear donated a case of apple pies to the school for sale at the event. Inspired by the success of McTeacher's Night, the Bear Family has set their sights on partnering with other schools in the area.
