College of DuPage women's volleyball team wins inaugural 'White Out' game
A horde of spirited attendees dressed in white T-shirts recently cheered on the College of DuPage women's volleyball team at the college's inaugural "White Out" game.

The Lady Chaparrals defeated the Aurora University Spartans in five sets with a 15-13 victory in the final set. Sophomore Nikki Rategan had an impressive 10 kills, hitting .421.
Other standouts include sophomore Kathe Paulius with 44 assists, 12 digs and 3 aces; freshman Maddie Shulski with 21 digs and 4 aces; sophomore Lindsey Barnes with 16 kills; and sophomore Natalie Figueroa with 15 kills and 17 digs.
"This was a great opportunity for our entire department to come together with the community to foster a stronger culture of support for athletics at College of DuPage," said COD Director of Athletics and Recreational programs Greg McVey.
Credited to the Winnipeg Jets who instituted the tradition in the late 1980s, White Out games have become a staple across sports events ranging from professional to high school games. McVey said he plans to make the unifying event a seasonal occurrence at the College with whiteout games scheduled for winter and spring.
COD's volleyball squad ended its season Oct. 18 with a win over the Triton College Trojans, giving the team a 14-17 overall record.
