North Suburban YMCA Spooktacular Kicks Off Halloween Festivities

Halloween came early to the North Suburban YMCA on October 21, with over 1000 guests celebrating at the Y's 11th Annual Spooktacular Party. Children and families came in costume to enjoy a wide range of activities designed to appeal to all ages.

To keep the popular local tradition fresh, the Y staff transformed the entire facility with new attractions as well as long-time favorites. The gym was filled with Halloween-themed bounce houses that served as the backdrop for a series of costume contests throughout the day. An all-new haunted house catered to thrill seekers, while the younger set went outdoors to visit the petting zoo and pony rides. The beautiful fall weather encouraged visitors to browse through a large selection of pumpkins, with sale proceeds going to support the YMCA's programs.

"The Halloween Spooktacular is a lot of work for our team, but it's always worth it when we see the reactions of the families coming through," notes Kathy Fielding, NSYMCA Vice President of Programs, Marketing & Member Engagement. "We know that this is a cherished tradition for many of our members and neighbors. Since the Y is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year, it was especially important for us to make the Halloween Party extra special for the entire community."

The Spooktacular Halloween Party was made possible by the participation of over 25 local businesses and through the generous support of some main sponsors, including 22nd Century Media, Waterway Carwash, BankFinancial, Coldwell Banker Northbrook, UBS Financial Services - Northbrook Branch, and 94.7 WLS-FM Radio.
