ECC to hold Oct. 25 info session for new manufacturing apprenticeship program

Elgin Community College will hold an information session for the college's new Industrial Maintenance Technology (IST) apprenticeship program from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, in Building K, Room K128, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.

During the information session, attendees will learn about the apprenticeship program and will have the opportunity to speak with apprenticeship partners (employers).

"ECC is excited to offer our new IST apprenticeship program that gives students the opportunity to 'earn while they learn'," said Katrina Boatright-Williams, apprenticeship and compliance coordinator. "Apprenticeships are a win-win for both students and employers. Students graduate with an associate degree - without any student debt - and a secure, well-paying job while employers have access to a pipeline of skilled, dedicated employees."

ECC partnered with Industry Consortium for Advanced Technical Training (ICATT), the leading apprenticeship program provider in the Midwest, to offer an industrial maintenance apprenticeship program to companies and residents in Community College District 509.

Apprentices are recruited, qualified and guaranteed to learn the skills that companies need and want. They commit to a three-year program that includes training and education both inside the classroom and on the job. Students work full-time for their employer while earning an Associate of Applied Science degree in integrated systems/maintenance technology from ECC.

Tuition and the employee's salary is covered by the employer. After graduating from ECC, the employee agrees to continue working for the employer for at least two years at a market rate salary. The program provides students with the knowledge, skills and education they need for a well-paying career that has the opportunity for upward mobility within the company - without any college debt.

Registration for the information session is encouraged. Please call (847) 214-7454 or email workforce@elgin.edu for more information and visit elgin.edu/apprenticeship to register by completing the apprenticeship interest form.
