District 73 foundation to hold first fundraising event

The Key to 73 Hawthorn Education Foundation is planning Oktoberfest, its first fundraising event. This event for adults will take place from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19, at Viper Alley, 275 Parkway, Lincolnshire.

General admission tickets are $40 each. An early bird special, in which tickets are two for $73, is available through Oct. 15. The event will include a broad range of appetizers, drinks, a silent auction and live entertainment.

"This event is a great way to have a fun evening and do something that will build educational opportunities for our students," said Jeremy Gong, the foundation's president.

The Key to 73 Hawthorn Education Foundation was established in 2017 to raise private sector funds to support the goals of the district's strategic plan.

The foundation gives the district's schools the ability to offer students programs and opportunities beyond those provided through regular funding. The foundation is also a powerful way for community members and interested companies to identify and fund learning experiences above and beyond those financed through tax dollars.

Hawthorn School District 73 is a preschool through eighth-grade public school district serving more than 4,000 students. It serves all or portions of the communities of Vernon Hills, Mundelein, Libertyville, Indian Creek and unincorporated areas of Lake County.
