$200,000 bail for Lombard man charged with seventh DUI
A Lombard man charged with his seventh DUI is being held in DuPage County jail on $200,000 bail.
Steven Tresnak, Jr., 55, of the 300 block of S. Westmore Road, is charged with aggravated DUI and driving with a revoked license. If convicted, he now faces between six and 30 years in prison.
Lombard police responded to a crash around 6:48 p.m. Tuesday near Westmore-Meyers and St. Charles roads. Upon their arrival, officers said they found Tresnak in the passenger seat of his vehicle at a nearby Burger King.
Prosecutors say Tresnak struck two vehicles and then continued driving to the Burger King. Once there, prosecutors say, Tresnak and a passenger in his vehicle switched seats. Tresnak's blood-alcohol level was .20 at the time of his arrest. The legal threshold in Illinois is .08.
"Time and time again, (Tresnak) thumbed his nose at the law," DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a written statement. "He continued to get behind the wheel not only after his first or second DUI, but after his fifth and sixth. Now (Tresnak) finds himself accused of DUI for the seventh time. Thankfully, no one was injured as a result of (Tresnak's) alleged irresponsible, reckless behavior."
Tresnak's next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 11 for arraignment in front of Judge Brian Telander.
