Local fire departments host open houses this weekend

Each year, the National Fire Protection Association selects a theme for Fire Prevention Week focusing on a key fire and life safety behavior. This year's theme is "Look. Listen. Learn. Be Aware. Fire Can Happen Anywhere." Visitors to the open house will learn about basic but essential ways to quickly and safely escape a home fire.

This year's campaign highlights three steps people can take to help quickly and safely escape a fire: look for places fire could start; listen for the sound of the smoke alarm; and learn two ways out of every room.
