Join in the fun this weekend at Mount Prospect's Oktoberfest
Mount Prospect is the place to be this weekend as the Mount Prospect Downtown Merchants Association hosts their annual Fall Fest and Oktoberfest on Friday, October 12 and Saturday, October 13. Both days of the event will be held at the intersection of Emerson Street and Busse Avenue in Downtown Mount Prospect.
The Oktoberfest event kicks off on Friday evening, October 12 from 4:00 - 11:00 p.m. Live entertainment (in the heated tent) will get the party going while you enjoy your favorite traditional German food and beverages. Phenix German Band will perform traditional German tunes as well as your favorite covers, and Noch Einmal German dance group will also perform.
This year's featured beers include Hacker Pschorr Oktoberfest and local craft "Fest Bier" by Scorched Earth. Authentic German food will be served by several vendors including Canta Napoli, Mrs. P and Me and Completely Nuts. Canta Napoli will be serving Spatzel and Swedish style meatballs and Polenta with Beef & Pork Bolognese. Mrs. P and Me will be serving Bratwurst, Spicy Thuringer, Veal Loaf, BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwiches, Cheeseburgers, Hot Dogs and Sweet and Sour Cabbage Soup.
On Saturday, October 13, the day begins with the Fall Festival, one of the best FREE fall family events in the suburbs. Fall Festival activities and entertainment will run from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. The fun will include hay rides, pony rides, bounce houses, pumpkin decorating, crafts and balloons, AND the FAMOUS never-ending trick-or-treat candy line!
The MPDMA is looking for donations of old clothes for the Fall Fest's "Make your own SCARECROW" craft. Help them meet their goal by collecting 100 pairs of pants, shirts, hats...any clothing you want to rid from your closet. Donations should be dropped off by Friday at noon at: The Wildbird Shack - 854 E. Northwest Highway.
Immediately following the Fall Festival, stick around for the party to kick into high gear with another night of Oktoberfest, from 4:00 - 11:00 p.m. Saturday evening, Phenix German Band returns, performing under the heated tent. They will be joined by Edelweiss German dance group and RV Fanfaren Corps, German ethnic drum and bugle corps. It will be guaranteed Gemutlichkeit (Good Times) for all!
