Girls volleyball: Lakes rallies past Antioch, still perfect in NLCC
Ashley Smith delivered 8 kills and 2 aces, and Lakes' girls volleyball team rallied past host Antioch 22-25, 25-12, 25-21 to remain undefeated in the Northern Lake County Conference on Wednesday night.
Devinn Bell dished out 16 assists and also served a pair of aces for the Eagles (16-5, 5-0). Paule Ceneac added 4 kills and 2 blocks, while Abby Vanderwall racked up 8 digs and 5 aces. Kelli Rettig (2 kills, 3 aces, 8 digs), Faith Conway (7 assists), Sara Smith (2 kills, 2 blocks) and Keelan Bell (5 kills, 2 blocks) also contributed to the win.
Cenie Frieson slammed 11 kills and added 4 digs for Antioch. Ayanna Tommy had 6 kills for the Sequoits, who also received 11 digs and 4 aces from Hannah Benes and 10 assists and 6 digs from Maiah Moll.
Warren d. Lake Zurich: The host Blue Devils fought back to win 20-25, 27-25, 25-19 in North Suburban Conference action, as Dana Lundtveit and Ella White had 10 and 8 kills, respectively.
Abby Berkowicz contributed 6 kills, 24 assists, 13 digs and 1 ace for Warren. The Blue Devils' other contributors included Amanda Howe (11 digs, 3 assists), Olivia Schostok (8 digs), Ellie Columbus (18 digs), Kayla Klemz (4 assists, 7 digs), Emma Fitzgibbons (1 kill, 1 block) and Ora Cohen (5 kills).
Stevenson d. Waukegan: The host Patriots won 25-17, 25-16 to remain undefeated in the North Suburban Conference.
Stevenson (14-7, 5-0) was led by Sophie Sorenson with 10 kills, Annie Armgardt with 7 kills, 2 solo blocks and 2 assisted blocks, and Lily Cozzi with 5 kills.
Grace Tully led Stevenson in assists (22), digs (10) and aces (2). Callie Grass contributed 2 solo and 2 assisted blocks.
