Fox Valley Off at College

South Elgin product Rachel Priore continues to be a key cog for the California University of Pennsylvania women's volleyball team.

To start the week, Priore was leading the team in kills with 203 (3.12 per set). She's also tied for third on the team in digs with 181 (2.78 per set) and is third on the team in receptions with 279. Priore also is the team's leading point-scorer with 222 (3.42 per set).

Priore had 22 kills in a match against West Virginia Wesleyan and 20 against Pitt-Johnstown. She's already had nine double-digit kill matches and five double-doubles with kills and digs. Priore registered 28 digs and 9 kills against Bloomsburg.

A year ago, Priore was named to the all-PSAC third team while leading the Vulcans in points per set at 3.97, which ranked fourth in the conference. She also led the team in kills and ranked sixth in the PSAC in that category.

Dunner at Ball State: Dundee-Crown alum Malik Dunner is contributing for a Ball State University football team that was 2-3 after a recent win against Kent State.

Through the team's first 5 contests, Dunner has run the ball 21 times for 130 yards and 2 scores. He's also caught 8 passes for 88 yards and 1 touchdown.

In the 52-24 win against Kent State, Dunner scored the game's first points when he caught a short 3-yard touchdown pass with 13:10 left in the first quarter. Dunner ran 4 times for 20 yards and caught 2 passes for 12 yards against Kent State.

Kellett at Dayton: Rosary graduate Quincy Kellett picked a heck of a time to score her first collegiate goal.

Kellett, a senior on the University of Dayton women's soccer team, found the back of the net in the 38th minute to give Dayton a recent 1-0 win over visiting Saint Joseph's. Kellett scored on a cross from teammate Jordan Pauley.

Kellett, who holds the Rosary career goal-scoring record with 94, as well as the school's all-time assists mark, appeared in 19 games as a junior and had 5 assists, while making the University of Dayton Dean's List in the fall while also being named to the 2017-18 A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll. Kellett played in 15 games as a sophomore and 2 games as a freshman.

Jones at Purdue: Cary-Grove alum Teagan Jones is a freshman forward-midfielder on the Purdue University women's soccer team.

Jones has provided immediate help for the Boilermakers, starting eight of the 9 games she has played in thus far. Jones has logged 457 minutes and has 1 goal and 2 points. She has taken 6 shots with three of them going on goal.

Jones scored that first collegiate career goal in the first game she played against Eastern Carolina. She had 5 shots (2 on goal) in that contest.

Roan earns head coaching opportunity: St. Charles East graduate Steph Roan recently was named the new head softball coach at the University of Mary.

Roan, a former standout on the diamond for the Saints, joins the Marauders after serving as assistant coach at NCAA Division II Fort Lewis College out of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. Prior to that, Roan coached at St. Cloud State University, her alma mater.

"Steph Roan has all the attributes needed to build our team into an upper echelon program," UOM Athlete Director Dale Lennon said. "She has had impressive mentors as both a player and a coach and understands the importance to create a strong team culture. We are excited about Steph's passion for the game and ability to teach and communicate with student-athletes."

Roan starred collegiately both at St. Cloud State and Kankakee Community College. At St. Cloud State she started 78 games and had 55 hits, 29 runs scored, 26 RBI, 9 doubles and 5 home runs. At Kankakee, Roan ranks in the top 25 in career hits, home runs, batting average and at-bats. She helped Kankakee finish third in the nation in 2011.

Morton at Illinois Wesleyan: Marmion product Jimmy Morton is a member of the Illinois Wesleyan men's golf team. Morton has played in two contests thus far and is averaging 75 strokes per 18 holes.

At the Carthage Tim Kopka Memorial Tournament, Morton shot a 7-over-par 149 for two days and finished eighth out of 113 golfers in the field. He had a 72 and a 77 there.

Morton also tied for fifth out of 48 golfers at the CCIW preview event where he carded a 76 and finished 5-over.

Robinson at South Carolina: Harvest Christian Academy alum Mikayla Robinson has started all 14 matches she's played in thus far for the South Carolina women's volleyball team.

Robinson is third on the team in kills with 114 (2.28 per set) and ranks third in points scored with 147. Robinson is part of a balanced Gamecocks attack that features five players with 200 or more swings thus far. Robinson is hitting a solid .308 on 234 swings with only 42 errors.

Defensively, Robinson leads the team in total blocks with 55, including 11 solos. Robinson's play has helped South Carolina get off to a red-hot 13-1 start and a 4-0 beginning in SEC action.
