Girls volleyball: Hampshire wins own tournament

Hampshire's girls volleyball team defeated South Elgin on Saturday to win its own tournament.

To get to the title game, Hampshire defeated Burlington Central 15-25, 25-13, 15-10; Rockford Auburn 25-14, 25-19; and Bartlett 11-25, 25-22, 15-13.

In the semifinals Hampshire beat Woodstock 25-23, 20-25, 16-14 before beating South Elgin 25-23, 25-23 in the championship match.

Outside hitter Riley Seagren led Hampshire with 49 points in 5 games. Madisyn Reinke, also an outside, had 42 points. Captain Sam Rossetti handled the setting by averaging 16 assists per game.

In the third-place game Woodstock defeated Bartlett 21-25, 25-10, 15-13.

Naperville Central d. Geneva: The Vikings (10-11) fell short 23-25, 25-23, 25-19 on Monday despite Piper Drazek's 12 assists, 7 kills from both Cassidy Brown and Eli Ford and Rachel Silvestri's 6 kills.

Emma Davine added 5 kills, 5 digs and 4 blocks, Grace Hinchman had 21 digs, and Alix Rittenberg had 12 digs.
