Vernon Hills celebrates Oktoberfest Saturday

Vernon Hills will host its 14th annual Oktoberfest from 3 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Metra station on Route 45 at Ranney Avenue.

The free event features live entertainment beginning at 5 p.m.; balloon sculpting; airbrushed tattoos; inflatables; kids crafts and pumpkins to paint, while supplies last; and hay rides sponsored by the Vernon Hills Park District.

Food will be prepared and sold by local nonprofit organizations. The Cook Memorial Library District's bookmobile will be on hand and the Lincolnshire/Riverwoods Fire Protection District will have fire trucks on display.
