Celebrating Grandparents' Day at St James School

On September 7, grandparents were welcomed by the eighth grade National Junior Honor Society students and ushered to their seats, where their grandchildren would soon come to join them for the school's 10th Annual Grandparents' Day Mass and Open House.

Father Matt celebrated the Mass, reaffirming that Jesus is the reason for the school. The Middle School Ensemble sang with heartfelt voice and spirit, as a gift to all grandparents. The PreK and Kindergarten classes assembled on stage for special songs to the grandparents, including, "I'm Thankful," by Mrs. Rita Ellis.

After Mass, Kathy and Jim Davy and their 9 grandsons - all current students at St James School - took to the stage. Mrs. Davy reflected on why Catholic education is important to her and her family. While recognizing the excellent educational options in Arlington Heights, St James offers something inherently extra. It is a school that makes connections of faith in all subjects. St James inspires a child's values to make moral choices later in life and is a support to pass a spiritual inheritance of faith to grandchildren. Mrs. Davy closed by reflecting that Catholic Education is the gift that keeps on giving. Pass it on.

It was a day of appreciation and thanks to grandparents and parents for the gift of Catholic education
