Party on at Randhurst Village Street Fest

Randhurst Village - the redevelopment of Randhurst Mall featuring more than 50 stores and restaurants at the intersection of Rand and Elmhurst roads in Mount Prospect - is bringing together local community groups, stores and restaurants, as well as special entertainment and presentations for a day filled with family-friendly fun at the third annual Randhurst Village Street Fest.

This free, one-of-a-kind outdoor event takes place from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday Sept. 8.

New attractions and a beer/wine area, sponsored by BlackFinn Ameripub, highlight the 2018 Street Fest, plus returning fan favorite band, 7th heaven. There's something for everyone with rides, inflatables, entertainment, food and classic cars from area collectors on display.

Forest View Elementary and Holmes Junior High School choirs will open the event at noon with the national anthem, followed by a medley of their favorite songs. Enjoy performances by the Mount Prospect Park District Dance Ensembles and Mount Prospect Cheer during the afternoon.

The finalists from the Daily Herald's Suburban Chicago's Got Talent contest, including winner Sea salt, will perform at 1 p.m.

Get ready to rock out from 3-5 p.m. with Street Fest headliner 7th heaven. The band has charted No. 1 on the Midwest Billboard Charts three times in the past three years. They are also known for the famous "30 Songs in 30 Minutes" medley of songs from the '70s and '80s.

A special thank you goes to Randhurst Village's bakery Nothing Bundt Cakes for its continued support as Stage Sponsor.

Exhibits, demonstrations and food and beverage sales will be offered from Randhurst Village tenants. A variety of nonprofit and civic organizations will be on-site providing information on their unique services and offering interactive activities for the whole family.

These groups provide a variety of support and education for the needs of the local community, including food for needy families, cancer and grief support, community care and education.

Organizations include: Lemons of Love, Lutheran Charities KARE-9 Military Dogs, Mount Prospect Fire Department, Mount Prospect Public Library, Mount Prospect Park District, Mount Prospect Police Department and River Trails Park District.

Rounding out the day's festivities will be new activities such as bumper cars and Human Bowling, plus favorites like The Randhurst Express trackless train, sponsored by Tide Dry Cleaners. The Animal Zoo in the Kid's Zone is sponsored by Playroom Café at Randhurst Village.

Performance times, nonprofit activities and event information on stores and restaurants are subject to change. The Randhurst Village Street Fest is free to attend, with food and beverage available for sale.
