Montessori-style Sunday school offered at St. Charles Episcopal Church

It's time to sign up for St. Charles Episcopal Church's Montessori-style Sunday school program.

"Godly Play" is a Montessori-based approach to religious education, available for students in prekindergarten to third grade, that recognizes that children experience the presence of God in their lives and long for ways to express it.

In the classroom, students experience silence, liturgy, parables and sacred stories.

Also on offer this year is a confirmation preparation course for seventh- and eighth-graders - involving learning, service work, and liturgy participation - as well as an intermediate program for fourth- to sixth-graders.

High school students gather every Sunday to learn and chat over doughnuts, gaining knowledge of scripture and theology through fun games and activities. The high school year culminates in a weeklong service trip to Appalachia in June.

Classes start Sunday, Sept. 9, from 10 to 10:45 a.m., and run through May 2019. To sign up, call (630) 584-2596 or email info@stcharlesepiscopal.org.
