Girls volleyball: Elgin opens with win

Inga Suceska had 5 aces, 7 digs, 8 assists and 2 kills as Elgin's girls volleyball team opened its season with a 25-9, 28-26 Upstate Eight win over East Aurora Wednesday.

Kennedy Venable added 5 digs and 4 kills for the Maroons while Lauren Dimayuga had 9 digs.

West Aurora splits: On the first day of the Wheaton North Invite, West Aurora (1-2) fell to Montini 20-25, 25-7, 25-18 then came back to beat DeKalb 26-24, 25-12. Leading the Blackhawks on the night were Kendra Battle (16 kills), Olivia McPherson (15 kills, 10 digs), Lauren Greenwood (12 digs), Jenna Millen (17 assists) and Kiara McPherson (18 assists).
