3-on-3 hoops tourney returns to St. Isidore
The St. Isidore Catholic Grade School and Parish parking lot and grounds again will be transformed into "everything basketball" on Saturday, Aug. 25, when the 19th annual Cyclones 3-on-3 basketball fundraiser tournament tips off.
More than 50 teams, totaling up to 200 players, are expected to participate on 12 portable courts. Last year's event raised $6,000 in support of St. Isidore School. Tipoff for the tournament is scheduled for 9 a.m.
The tournament is open to the public, but limited to school-age students between third and 10th grade entering the 2018-19 school year, parent event chairman Jason Ciolino said. Teams can feature a maximum of four players.
The entry fee is $120 per team and needs to be submitted by 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, at the school office, 431 W. Army Trail Road, Bloomingdale. Cash or checks are acceptable, with checks made payable to St. Isidore School.
"The 3-on-3 tournament continues to be one of the most highly anticipated events and fundraisers of our school year," Ciolino said. "This is our 19th consecutive tournament, and to see our school and parish grounds filled with hundreds of players, spectators, food, music and fun is really something."
Each team will be grouped by age and experience into divisions based on entries received. The tournament committee recommends a team's roster be made up of players of the same age and/or grade in school. Teams must be made up of players of the same gender.
All teams are guaranteed a minimum of three games and will receive a free lunch and commemorative T-shirt. Medals will be awarded to each division-winning team.

St. Isidore School is part of the Joliet Diocese and has been in existence since 1920. It has more than 250 students in preschool through eighth grade and a staff of 30 teachers, aides and administrators, more than 70 percent of whom hold master's degrees or above.
