Abortion not just a medical procedure

In the recent debate between Peter Roskam and Sean Casten, I was shocked and appalled to hear Sean Casten's comments regarding abortion. "I view abortion as a medical procedure like a gall bladder surgery" Casten stated.

Ask a woman who has had a miscarriage if she considers that it was just like losing her gall bladder. Ask a woman who has had an abortion if she ever feels any remorse over her decision. A woman who is pregnant knows that she is carrying another life, another human ... not just another bodily organ.

Yes, a woman should have a "right to choose" over her own body, but the right to choose happens at the time that she chooses to have unprotected sex. Once she has made that choice and the result is the creation of a human, it is not the same as a gall bladder.

A society that views an embryo as just another organ to be disposed of when it is inconvenient or unnecessary is a society that has lost its moral compass.

How can Sean Casten possibly represent us?
