Mark these WCI Dates!

Coinciding with the back-to-school season, Women's Club of Inverness (WCI) will begin a new membership year. WCI will continue to meet on the 2nd Thursday of each month, September-May; except November (fall fundraiser), January, and April (spring fundraiser). Since the early 1990s, WCI has been welcoming members from Inverness and surrounding communities to join the group. Last year the membership awarded $32,000 in scholarships and close to $43,000 in grants to organizations primarily serving women, children, family and seniors residing in the boundaries of school districts #211 and #220.

Installed last May, President Karen Spering will kick off her term by welcoming members and guests to WCI's first meeting on Thursday, Sept. 13, at the Inverness Golf Club, as well as introducing her new board and direction for the coming year.

In looking to continuing WCI's giving, Karen remarked, "I look forward to another banner year of philanthropic giving as I challenge our membership to make a difference in both their lives and the lives of the less fortunate in our communities. I welcome prospective and current members to share in our mission through our 2 fundraisers and community outreach."

Preparations for WCI's first fundraiser, Memories of Christmas Past, are underway. Chaired by Cheryl Trzupek and Karen Spering, the daytime event will be held at Meridian Banquet & Conference Center in Rolling Meadows on Friday, November 16. Before WCI's summer hiatus, the chairs announced the theme is a nostalgic journey of Christmases past and will include luncheon, shopping, raffle chances, and more. Tickets are $65.
