'Oklahoma!' is sweeping through Schaumburg Park District

With a more than 60-person cast and live orchestra, Schaumburg Park District's performance of Rodgers & Hammerstein's "Oklahoma! " is better than 'O.K.'

Oklahoma! will be performed July 19-21. The show will take place at a special location- Lake Park High School West Campus, 500 W. Bryn Mawr Ave., Roselle, to accommodate renovations at the Community Recreation Center.

Emma Robie plays the lead role of Laurey Williams, a farm girl being courted by two rival suitors. Nic LaMore stars as one of her love interests.

"Their singing is phenomenal," said Beth Waller, cultural arts supervisor. "You could go to Broadway and not hear anyone better. I'm impressed with the talent in this whole cast."

Oklahoma! features an on-stage orchestra pit and a ballet scene that can be difficult to perform in community theater, Waller said. The cast includes actors of all ages, with several family members taking the stage together.

"The audience is going to be amazed," Waller said. "This show will evoke every reaction-from laughter to tears."

Upcoming performances include:

• 6:30 p.m., July 19

• 6:30 p.m., July 20

• 3 p.m., July 21

Tickets are $15 for adults ages 13 and older, $10 for youth 13 and younger. Day-of tickets at the door are $17 for adults ages 13 and older, $12 for youth 13 and younger. Cost is free to children 2 and younger if being held.
