New Schaumburg Cultural Services Director Named

The Village of Schaumburg is pleased to announce Jack Netter has been named Director of Cultural Services. He becomes the second person to serve in this role following the departure of former director Betsy Armistead who retired in April after 32 years.

Netter began working in the village as a part-time stage technician when the Al Larson Prairie Center opened in 1986. He became the technical supervisor three years later where he oversaw the expansion of the facility in which a lecture hall, meeting rooms, video studio and storage space was added.

In 1997, Netter was promoted to operations supervisor where he developed and implemented a variety of lighting, audio and video system enhancements in the Maggie Atcher Theatre inside the Prairie Center. He was also an early adopter of online and on-demand video for the village and created video content for various initiatives.

Netter became Assistant Director of Cultural Services in 2012 and helped coordinate the reconstruction of the outdoor stage where Summer Breeze concerts and other performances are held today.

"I am excited to begin serving the village in this new capacity," Netter said. "I'm dedicated to the many arts programs and special events the Prairie Center has brought to the community in its 32-year history, particularly the music and arts programs in which so many young people have participated. I look forward to helping these programs thrive for years to come."

Schaumburg Village Manager Brian Townsend added, "Jack has extensive experience with the village and the Prairie Center, and I have been very pleased with his efforts in serving as Interim Director. I appreciate his commitment to implementing new ideas and improvements at the Prairie Center, and I believe he will serve the village well in his new role."

A total of 926 events took place in 2017 at the Prairie Center, which produced a total attendance of 94,581. For more information on Prairie Center programs, visit www.prairiecenter.org or call (847) 895-3600.
