Civil War re-enactors wage battles near Wauconda

The Lakewood Forest Preserve near Wauconda was transformed into a 19th century battlefield this weekend for the annual Civil War Days.

Visitors on Saturday were able to watch battle re-enactments, meet an actor playing President Abraham Lincoln and buy old-fashioned goods, among other activities.

The event continues from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the preserve, which is on Route 176 west of Fairfield Road.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for kids and seniors and free for children 3 or younger.

Tickets can be purchased at the forest preserve or online at lcfpd.org/events/civil-war-days-sunday-20180701.
