Learn about native garden care at July 17 progam

Learn how to select and maintain great, summer-blooming native plants for your garden during "The Native Plant Garden in Summer" nature program.

This "Learn from the Experts" program will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, at Pottawatomie Community Center, 8 North Ave., in downtown St. Charles.

Landscape Architect Trish Beckjord will share examples of what to do, and what not to do. See the plantings at the native plant demonstration garden at the Pottawatomie Community Center.

Beckjord will provide tips for summer garden care.

Attendees will also find out how yard and gardens can be part of the Conservation at Home program.

"Learn From the Experts" programs are for adults ages 18 and older. Advance registration is required. Registration fee is $10 per person. Call (630) 444-3190 or email programs@kaneforest.com to register.

"Learn from the Experts" programs are taught by experts in their respective fields and offer in-depth learning opportunities about our local ecology. The programs are offered through a partnership with the Forest Preserve District of Kane County, St. Charles Park District and Geneva Park District.

A "Learn from the Experts" program from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 15, will explore "A Sense of Place: The Peck Farm Legacy."

Dig deep into the agricultural history of Kane County during this presentation about the Peck family.
