Glenview Real Estate Broker Ellen Stern Saves a Life at Residential Real Estate Open House
Ellen Stern, Broker with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices KoenigRubloff Realty Group's Glenview office, was recently hailed a hero!
Stern was conducting an open house in Glenview when a woman who lived in the area walked in to see the condo. She began to choke, grabbed her throat and managed to say, "Call 911." Ellen handed her phone to a gentleman, told him to call 911 and went to the woman who was gasping for breath. Ellen successfully performed the Heimlich Maneuver on her, saving her life.
The woman had eaten a hazelnut as she came into the condo and the skin of the nut had become stuck in her throat, blocking her airway. The woman was fine and left the open house even before the paramedics arrived!
Michael Mazzei, Regional Vice President and Managing Broker of the Glenview office, said, "We are extremely proud of Ellen." He continued, "She is such a hero. Had she not been in the right place at the right time, the outcome of this situation could have been quite different. It's a great reminder to take First Aid classes and educate yourself on the proper techniques necessary to save a life."
