Mount Prospect Fourth of July Festivities Planned

The Village of Mount Prospect 4th of July Parade will take place on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 beginning at 1p.m., at the corner of Emerson Street and Prospect Avenue. The parade will follow Prospect Avenue and Central Road and end at Melas Park. The event is sponsored by the Mount Prospect Special Events Commission.

The theme of the 2018 parade is "Mount Prospect Begins the Next 100," a reference to the Village's Centennial Celebration of its 100-year anniversary in 2017.

The Special Events Commission has invited civic, youth and neighborhood groups, businesses, schools, churches and elected officials to participate. The parade will feature floats, bands, decorated vehicles, walkers, bikes and more. The Parade is televised and shown on the local cable channel several times throughout the summer months.

Village officials remind attendees to drink plenty of water throughout the parade and weekend to avoid any health issues in potentially warm summer weather. Please keep children close by - it is difficult for drivers to see little ones darting out to get candy. Please stay on the curb, so everyone can enjoy the parade.

Additionally, the 80th Annual Mount Prospect Lions Club Summer Festival will be held July 4-8 at Melas Park. The festival kicks off on Wednesday, July 4 with a pancake breakfast from 7-11 a.m. at Melas Park. The hours are: July 4, 7, 8 from 1-11 p.m. and July 5-6 from 6-11 p.m. Fireworks displays will be held at Melas Park on July 4 and 8 at 9:30. Visit mplions.org for details.
