Central Road resurfacing scheduled to begin June 25

Starting Monday, June 25, the Illinois Department of Transportation will be resurfacing Central Road from Arlington Heights Road to Rand Road. Motorists should expect delays during this time and consider alternate travel routes.

Construction will include intermittent curb and sidewalk replacement, including replacement of all intersection sidewalk ramps, some pavement base patching, grinding and resurfacing of the asphalt pavement, restriping of the pavement, installation of pedestrian signals at Arthur, repaving of Mount Prospect Road, between Rand Road and south of Central Road, and restoration of driveways and parkways.

The area of work included is east bound and west bound lanes of Central Road, from Arlington Heights Road to Rand Road. Construction will start at the east and west ends of the project limits to avoid working through our parade route prior to the Fourth of July.

Pedestrian access will remain open during the village's Downtown Block Party event July 27 and 28. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

If you have questions during construction, visit IDOT's web page, www.idot.illinois.gov, and go to About Us, IDOT Regions and click on R1, then go to Construction Projects and Studies. There you can search for Central Road and view updated information throughout the project.

Should you have additional questions, contact the Public Works Department at (847) 870-5640 or email publicworksdept@mountprospect.org.

You can also follow the Public Works Department on Facebook and Twitter and check the village's website, www.mountprospect.org.
