Northbrook native Carly Meyer making her way into the theatre industry

Northbrook's 16 year old Carly Meyer has recently made great strides in the theatre world with roots dug deep at The Performer's School (TPS). With the training of founders Stacey Flaster and Elizabeth Fauntleroy, Carly won the the 2017 Illinois High School Musical Theater Award as Best Actress for her portrayal of Hodel in Fiddler On The Roof. With this award, Carly was given the opportunity to travel to New York and perform at the Jimmy Awards on Broadway. This year, Carly was a top 12 nominee in 2018 at the Illinois High School Musical Theatre Awards.

Carly is triple threat with a vocal prowess extending from Opera to pop and from musical theatre to rock. Recently, she was a featured performer in KIDZ ROC at the Clay Cooper Theater in Branson, MO, and won the top honor at Sinfonietta Bel Canto Voice. Additionally, she has received countless main roles in productions through TPS, most notably Fiona in Shrek. In 2017, Carly also participated in the world premiere of Trevor the Musical helmed by Marc Bruni, the director of the tony award winning Beautiful: The Carol King Musical at Writers Theatre

Stacey Flaster, co-founder of TPS and one of Carly's mentors, raves that "Carly has an excellent work ethic. She is a strong performer and a triple threat, which is rare for kids her age. She truly studies and works at her craft. She is a joy to teach and have in the program as a role model."

This summer, Carly continues to pursue her career by performing at many private parties and summer festivals across Chicago's North Shore. TPS could not be prouder of Carly's accomplishments and continues to support and discipline her as she works towards great success.
