Be part of living history at Spring Valley Country Fair
Take a trip back in time to the 1880s during Schaumburg Park District's Spring Valley Country Fair, sponsored by Spring Valley Nature Club.
Admission is free to the two-day fair, is set for noon to 4 p.m., June 23 and 24 at Volkening Heritage Farm, 201 S. Plum Grove Road. Activities include a bake sale, livestock and domestic arts displays and 1880s farm equipment demonstrations.
Attendees may join the fun by participating in a variety of historic games and activities. A historic interpreter will portray a medicine man peddling his latest elixirs.
"Country Fairs were a fun experience in the 19th century," said Patty Kennedy, farm program coordinator. "Visitors will see interpreters showing animals, baked goods and farm equipment in competition for blue ribbons - the quintessential prize for the best of the fair."
