Farquhar to toss first pitch at Friday's White Sox-Brewers game

After suffering a brain hemorrhage from a ruptured aneurysm during an April 20 game against the Houston Astros, Chicago White Sox relief pitcher Danny Farquhar made a miraculous recovery.

While the 31-year-old righty was released from Rush University Medical Center on May 7, Dr. Demetrius Lopes, Farquhar's neurosurgeon, said he will not be able to pitch again this season.

The medical decision, however, is not going to completely keep Farquhar off the mound.

Before the White Sox play the Milwaukee Brewers Friday night at Guaranteed Rate Field, Farquhar will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

"That's pretty cool that we all get to see him," Sox manager Rick Renteria said. "We're really happy for him, and the fact that he's going to be able to do that is truly a testament to all the people that took care of him, his fortitude, his willingness to fight through something which was a very difficult thing to fight through."

After first pitch, Farquhar and his wife Lexie are scheduled to talk with the media.
