Register early for Wacky Wagon Campers Club

Avoid the rush and register early for Schaumburg Park District's new Wacky Wagon Campers Club.

Campers can save all summer by joining the Wacky Wagon Campers Club. A $50 membership fee includes all drop-in sessions, an official Wacky Wagon Camp T-shirt and discounts on Thursday Expeditions and Fantastic Fridays. Drop-in sessions also are available for $5 per session.

Wacky Wagon runs Monday through Friday and meets at Bock Neighborhood Center, 1223 W. Sharon Lane, Community Recreation Center, 505 N. Springinsguth Road and Meineke Recreation Center, 220 E. Weathersfield Way. Children must pass a basic swim test before swimming.

"We've got some great new counselors this summer with a lot of fresh energy," said Pam Gauper, Wacky Wagon coordinator. "We also added a new field trip to Pump It Up as part of our Thursday Expeditions that's going to be super fun. As always, we have our Fantastic Fridays filled with a ton of goofy activities."

Drop-in days include:

• 9 a.m.-noon, Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays (Bock, Meineke, CRC).

• 1-4 p.m., Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays (Bock, Meineke, CRC).

Thursday Expeditions

Wacky Wagon Thursday Expeditions include a Kick-off Picnic at the CRC, a visit to the Bulls/Sox Academy and bouncy fun at Rockin' Jump Trampoline Experience in Buffalo Grove. Fees vary depending on the activity. Registration is required for Thursday Expeditions. Children must attend any two days of camp throughout the summer prior to participating in field trips. Transportation is included.

Fantastic Fridays

Fantastic Fridays take place each week at a different District site. This summer's themes include Gargantuan Games at Bock; Time Travelers at CRC; Gold Rush Days at MRC; Our Diverse Universe at MRC; Massive Messy Fun at Bock and Oh no…It's H2O at CRC. Registration is required.

"Wacky Wagon is a great opportunity for children to get outside, make new friends and visit the pool," Gauper said. "Campers have a ball every summer."
