Schaumburg police report suspicious approaches to drivers

Schaumburg police say they've received four calls this month about suspicious behavior involving women approaching drivers along village roadways and asking for assistance.

Sgt. Christy Lindhurst said officers were able to make contact with a woman under those circumstances on only one occasion, but she refused offers of social services and other help.

The specific locations and descriptions of the women have varied, but generally were centered near the intersection of Roselle and Wise roads, Lindhurst said.

In each case, the drivers who contacted police were suspicious of the woman rather than believing she was in need of help, Lindhurst said.

However, she said, at this point there is no indication of criminal activity and there is no open investigation.
