Lake Forest College student of Crystal Lake wins award

Margaret Fortman, class of 2018, of Crystal Lake was awarded the Harold B. Curtis Prize in Mathematics and Harald C. Jensen Prize for research in experimental physics. As a mathematics and physics double major who made it on the Dean's List three years in a row, Fortman earned distinction on her senior thesis and was also elected to Phi Beta Kappa. After graduation, she will be attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison to pursue a PhD in physics. The Harald C. Jensen prize is awarded to the senior physics major who has written the most outstanding senior thesis describing their original independent research in experimental physics. Lake Forest College is a national liberal arts institution located 30 miles north of downtown Chicago. The College has more than 1,500 students representing 44 states and 72 countries.
